TURNCHAPEL CAMP
Turnchapel Camp was hutted accommodation for the army and was erected during the Great War. Being located outside the Borough of Plymouth, it came within the jurisdiction of Plympton Saint Mary Rural District Council. The Hutments had been sold and most had been demolished by November 1920, when it was described as 'a devastated area'. The site was well drained and close to railway and ferry facilities so was considered ideal for providing housing accommodation for numerous families. [1] Sources:
