DEVONPORT GENERAL BANK
Originally formed by Messrs Thomas and Herbert James Husband in 1810 [1], it presumably acquired its title as the Devonport General Bank from January 1st 1824 when Plymouth Dock gained its new title of Devonport. Its premises were in Fore Street, Plymouth Dock, presumably at Number 24. As Messrs Husband and Son, it met all its commitments during the banking crisis of 1825 and survived, only to be acquired by the National Provincial Bank of England in 1839 as part of its national expansion.
