EMBANKMENT MOTORS' FLEET LIST

The following lists all the vehicles known or believed to have been operated by the Embankment Motor Company (Plymouth) Ltd, of Plymouth.

All vehicles were purchased new unless indicated by "S" (second hand) after the date in the "Bought" column.  "B2 indicates those vehicles taken over from Buckingham's; "M" the one taken over from Markham of Plympton; "P" those acquired when the Plymouth Co-operative Society's fleet was acquired; and "R" those taken over when Rodgman's of Pomphlett, Plymstock, was acquired.

In the "Disposal" column "WN" indicates those vehicles transferred to the Western National Omnibus Company when the bus services were transferred in April 1933; and "WD" indicates a vehicle known to have been requisitioned by the War Department.  "H" - ACO 521 was hired from Messrs W Mumford & Sons Ltd and was returned to them.

When the Company was taken over by Messrs Wallace Arnold Devon Ltd in 1974 those vehicles marked "WA" transferred to the new owner.  Those with "WA" in the "Bought" column were acquired by or from Wallace Arnold Devon and carried the Embankment fleet name until that ceased to be used in 1977.
