BATTER STREET CONGREGATIONAL CHAPEL

Batter Street Congregational Chapel was the oldest in Plymouth, having been erected on the corner with Stillman Street in 1707.

It had long been without a pastor when, following renovation, in the autumn of 1905, it was brought 'into organic union' with Norley as a mission church.

Batter Street Congregational Chapel closed in 1921.  Two years later the premises were sold to Lord Astor, who reconstructed the building and on Saturday December 5th 1925 reopned it as the Virginia House Settlement.
