CROWNHILL HUTMENTS The original Crownhill Hutments were on the brow of the hill on the road to Tavistock at Crownhill. These became Seaton Barracks. However, a second set of Crownhill Hutments is shown on post-Second World War maps as being to the north of the lane leading to Derriford Farm. This would place them immeduately opposite the current B & Q store at Derriford. They existed at the same time as Seaton Barracks so do not seem to be connected. Can you tell me what these hutments were used for and whether they were erected before or during the Second World War? Perhaps these were one of the National Service Hostels referred to elsewhere in Can You Help, Please?
