Plymouth Central Reference Library holds the following local Census Returns: Sunday June 6th 1841 - Plymouth - On microfilm Sunday March 30th 1851 - Plymouth and surrounding area on microfilm + microfiche transcription and index of Devon. Sunday April 7th 1861 - Plymouth on microfilm and Plymouth, Kingsbridge and Tavistock on microfiche. Sunday April 2nd 1871 - Plymouth on microfilm with a surname index in hard copy. Sunday April 3rd 1881 - Plymouth on microfilm + transcriptions and indexes for Devon and Cornwall. Sunday April 5th 1891 - Plymouth, Tavistock and Okehampton on microfiche. Sunday March 31st 1901 - Plymouth, Devonport, Stonehouse and Plympton on microfiche. Please ring the Library on (01752) 305907 to book a microfilm or microfiche reader. Printer-readers are available. Copies cost 30p per sheet. The next census that will become available in 2011 was taken on the night of Sunday April 2nd 1911.
