Mrs JOHANNA KNIGHTON'S GIFT The tything of Weston Peverell was entitled to £1 a year, being a third part of the interest on £100 3% reduced, vested in Mrs Mary Clarke, the surviving trustee, whose tenant paid the sum to the curate of St Pancras. From it was distributed bread to 'the poorest and most distressed objects in the tything.' By an Order of the Charity Commissioners dated June 21st 1889, the Gift was invested in Consols to the value of £34 5s 9d, which by 1907 were worth £33 7s 6d. These were invested with the Official Trustees of Charitable Funds. The vicar of St Andrew's Church, being the principal minster officiating at the Chapel of St Pancras, and the churchwardens of St Pancras were appointed trustees by an Order of the Commission dated August 30th 1890. The dividend in 1907 amounted to 17s and was used to provide milk, etc., for poor persons in cases of sickness or distress. Principal Source:
