CHURCHES, CHAPELS AND PLACES OF WORSHIP  |  BAPTIST CHAPELS

HOW STREET BAPTIST CHAPEL

Updated:  24 June 2011

The How Street Baptist Chapel was situated in How Street, Plymouth.

It was first rented by the Baptist congregation in 1789 and they moved here from their old Chapel in the Pig Market (Bedford Street).  [1]

BY 1843 the Deacons of the Chapel were asking for a larger place of worship so a piece of land was purchased in George Street and on May 15th 1844 the foundation stone of the George Street Baptist Chapel was laid.  [2]
