BETWEEN PLYMOUTH MILLBAY STATION AND LIPSON TERRACE
The horse bus service from Millbay Station to Lipson Terrace, Roundhouse Lane (later Mount Gould Road), was started by Mr W Newcombe on Monday March 5th 1888. He only had the one vehicle so the service ran hourly. In the summer months the first bus from Lipson Terrace was at 10am, returning from Millbay at 10.30am. The last bus ran at 7.30pm from Millbay and 8pm from Lipson Terrace. During the winter the service was very curtailed, not starting until 1.30pm from Lipson Terrace and finishing at 6.30pm. The fare was 2d. By 1889 the service had been increased to half-hourly from 10.30am until 7.30pm but it is not clear who was operating it.
