HORSE CABS

Updated:  15 January 2011

The horse-drawn Hansom Cabs of Plymouth, which had been operating since about 1829, had to be licensed by the Borough Councils and latterly by Plymouth City Council.

In 1937 only two licenses were issued.  During 1938 this had decreased to one and that ceased to run early in 1939.  In July 1939 no licenses were issued and that was the end of the horse-drawn cab in Plymouth.  [1]
