HOUSING AND HOUSING ESTATES

HOUSING AT SOUTHWAY

Updated:  07 September 2011 

The decision to build the estate was taken as early as May 1943.  The area comprised 288 acres and included seven farms, Birdcage, Langley and Southway plus parts of Clittaford, Heathfield, Hendwell, and Wyvell.   Work started in September 1954.
