ROSE AND CROWN PUBLIC HOUSE

The Rose and Crown Public House was situated in Old Town Street, Plymouth, on the corner with Week Street.

It was listed in 1798, when the landlord was Mr John Duncalf  [1] but it is thought to have dated back to the 16th century.

By 1890, when Mr George Roseveare was the landlord, the premises had been numbered as 91 Old Town Street.  [2]

The last licensee was 37-years-old Mr Frederick Rowett, who from 1911 was the manager.  29-years-old Miss Edith Mars was the barmaid.  [3]

It is said that the Rose and Crown Public House was demolished in the 1920s  [4].  It was replaced by Messrs Montague Burton Ltd, the tailors.
