HONICKNOWLE WAR MEMORIAL

A memorial to those from the Honicknowle district of Plymouth who gave their lives in the Second World war has been rescued from the Honicknowle Methodist Chapel and affixed to a wall outside the Warwick Park House Nursing Home in Butt Park Road.

Made from grey marble, it was unveiled in November 1999 by Ward Councillor Mr John Ingham and nursaing home director, Mr Peter Jones.

The names on the memorial are: A H Nicholls, Flying Officer, Royal Air Force; S Nicholls, Royal Engineers; W Brown, Corporal, Royal Army Ordnance Corps; S Lee, Hampshire Regiment; J Moor, Royal Marines; H C Crofts, Chief Engine Room Artificer, Royal Navy;  W C Pearce, Royal Navy; and W W Scott, Parachute Regiment.
