PLYMOUTH FALKLANDS MARITIME MEMORIAL

The Plymouth Falklands Maritime Memorial is located in the Garden of Remembrance in the old Bull Ring area beneath the Belvedere on Plymouth Hoe.

This Memorial lists the names of al those who died during the Faklands War while serving on board Her Majesty's Ship "Ardent", HMS "Antelope", HMS "Argonaut", HMS "Fearless", HMS "Coventry", HMS "Glamorgan", HMS "Hermes", HMS "Invincible", HMS "Sheffield", the merchant ship "Atlantic Conveyor", Royal Fleet Auxiliary "Sir Galahad", and RFA "Sir Tristram".

It was unveiled and dedicated by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Mr Gordon Draper, at 3.30pm on July 7th 1988.  The event was followed by a march past of the Pipes and Drums of the 4th Royal Tank Regiment and the massed bands of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Royal Tank Regiments.

Adjacent to the Plymouth Falklands Maritime Memorial is another one that was given to the City in 1982 by the Plymouth Junior Chamber of Commerce and was placed in Princess Street.  At the instigation of the HMS "Ardent" Association and The Federation of Service Associations, the Memorial, along with others, was moved to its present position and the Garden of Remembrance created.
