MOTOR BUS ROUTE "208" PLYMOUTH to WALKHAMPTON and PRINCETOWN On Sunday January 1st 1928 the National Omnibus & Transport Company took over the Devon Motor Transport Company's service from Plymouth to Walkhampton and Princetown. When service numbers were introduced in June 1928 this became service 208. In the January 1929 timetable this service was operating from Plymouth to Crapstone Corner at Yelverton, and Dousland although it was given as the Princetown service. The timetable for 1929 was:- From Plymouth at (Weekdays only) 7.15am, 8.30am, (Weekdays and Sundays) 9.10am, 10.30am, 11.10am, 12.30pm, 2.10pm, 2.30pm, 3.35pm, 4.30pm, 5.40pm, 6.30pm, 8.30pm and on Saturdays Only at 10pm. The fare from Plymouth to the Rock Hotel at Yelverton was one shilling single or 1/9d return; to Dousland 1/3d single or two shiilings return. Buses arrived at Yelverton Golf Club 36 minutes after leaving Plymouth, at the Rock Hotel 44 minutes after and at Dousland 49 minutes after leaving the City. Most journeys had a six minute layover at Dousland but a few had 11 minutes and the Saturdays only last journey turned around immediately. From Dousland at (Weekdays only) 8.10am, 9.25am, (Weekdays and Sundays) 10.10am, 11.25am, 12.10pm, 1.25pm, 3.10pm, 3.25pm, 4.35pm, 5,25pm, 6.35pm, 7.25pm, 9.25pm and on Saturdays Only at 10.50pm. The last bus was due to arrive back in Plymouth at 11.39pm. Buses left Yelverton Rock Hotel five minutes after the Dousland departure time, and Yelverton Golf Club seven minutes after.
