MOTOR BUS ROUTE "Lc"

Plymouth's motor bus service "Lc" commenced running on Friday December 30th 1927 from the Guildhall through Dale Road, Ford Park Road, Mutley Plain, to Lower Compton.

Under the new route licensing regulations that came into force on Wednesday July 8th 1931, route Lc was officially known as H.1308 and was licensed to run from the Guildhall through Tavistock Road and Townsend Hill to Lower Compton.  Also licensed were the Lc1 (H.1345) from Lower Compton via Hartley and Beacon Park Road to Fore Street; and the Lc2 (H.1346) from Lower Compton and Hartley to Fore Street via Milehouse.

Thus in 1931 the service is listed as running via Mutley Plain but in 1932 it is listed as running through Houndiscombe Road.   The terminus in 1932 was at the entrance to Park Terrace, Lower Compton.

When the whole network was renumbered on Monday April 5th 1937, the Lc became route 9 and was running from the Guildhall through Beechwood Avenue, Ford Park Road, and Mutley to Lower Compton.
