DEVONPORT STANDARD AND
PLYMOUTH UNITED SERVICES GAZETTE

The Devonport Standard and Plymouth United Services Gazette ran started on January 8th 1835. It was published by local bookseller, Mr George Hearle, to support an election candidate by the name of Mr Dawson and contained mostly information gleaned from London newspapers.

Issue 2 on January 14th 1836 came out as The West Devon Standard and it continued under that name until November 9th 1836, after which it was known as the West of England Conservative and General Advertiser.
