PROMINENT CITIZENS

THE HONOURABLE JOHN JACOB ASTOR

Major the Honourable John Jacob Astor MBE was the fourth son of Viscount and Lady Astor. 

He was born on August 29th 1918 and was educated at Eton and New College, Oxford.  He served with distinction in the Second World War and in 1944 married Ana Inez, daughter of Seņior Doctor Don Miguel Carcano. 

Major Astor tried to follow his Mother as Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton in 1945 but was unsuccessful.  However, he did regain the seat for the Conservative Party in 1951.
