GREENBANK PARK

On Monday February 18th 1861 the Mayor of Plymouth, Mr W Luscombe, issued a notice stating that the Local Board of Health had agreed to purchase the Green Bank Estate, near Woodside, Plymouth, as a place of public recreation, subject to the sanction and approval of the ratepayers.

Notice was given: 'That with a view to obtain such sanction and approval, or otherwise, a Poll of the Ratepayers will be taken at the Police Office, in the Guildhall (entering in High Street), on Thursday the 21st day of February inst.'

The voting commenced at 10am and was open until 4pm.   To be eligible to vote the person's name must be on the last Rate made for the relief of the poor.
