DOCKYARD HALT

Dockyard Halt, now known simply as "Dockyard", is located between Devonport and Keyham Stations on the Great Western Railway main line.  It is adjacent to Boscawen Place and Camperdown Street, Stoke.

The map shows its relationship with the other Halts and Stations ain the area.

The Halt was built by the Great Western Railway and opened on June 1st 1905 following the success of the railmotor service from Plymouth to Saltash introduced the previous year.  It was about equidistant between the Saint Levan and Albert Road gates of the Royal Dockyard.

Dockyard Halt was provided with a down platform of 315 feet and an up platform of 260 feet in length plus shelters measuring 20 feet by 7 feet.  The estimated cost, including pathways, steps, gates and lamps, was £557.  It was supervised by the Station Master at Devonport Station.
