PLYMPTON St MARY REGISTRATION DISTRICT The Parishes of Bickleigh, Brixton, Compton Gifford, Cornwood, Egg Buckland, Ermington, Harford, Holbeton, Ivybridge, Newton & Noss, Newton Ferrers, Pennycross/Weston Peverell, Plympton St Mary, Plympton St Maurice, Plymstock, Revelstoke, Shaugh Prior, St Budeaux, Tamerton Foliot, Wembury and Yealmpton plus the extra-parochial areas of Chelson Meadow and Laira Green, formed the Plympton St Mary Registration District for Births, Deaths and Marriages, when that commenced on July 1st 1837. The Superintendent Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages was Mr Nicholas Lockyer, solicitor, of Princess Square, Plymouth. Mr Thomas Southwood, Ridgway, was the Registrar of Births and Deaths for Plympton sub-district and Mr Frderick C Nettleton, of the Ridgway, was the Registrar of Marriages. Plympton Registration District The Plympton St Mary Registration District was re-titled as the Plympton Registration District from July 1st 1936. The Parishes of Compton Gifford and Egg Buckland were transferred to the Plymouth Registration District in 1939. The remaining part of the Parish of St Budeaux and the Parish of Tamerton Foliot were likewise transferred to Plymouth in 1951. The Parish of Plympton St Maurice and that part of the Parish of Plympton St Mary absorbed in to the City of Plymouth was transferred to the Plymouth Registration District on April 1st 1967.
