HONICKNOWLE JUNIOR SCHOOL

Created:  31 January 2012

Honicknowle Junior School was situated in Crownhill Road, on the corner with Little Dock Lane.

It had been opened as the Honickowle County Junior School in temporary premises in 1937 until a new building was erected in 1938.  [1]

On April 1st 1939 it was transferred to the control of the Plymouth Local Education Authority when the City extended its boundary and it then became Honicknowle Junior School.

As a result of the reorganisation of education brought about by the Education Act 1944, Honicknowle Junior School became Honicknowle Primary School as from April 1st 1945.
