HOOE COUNTY PRIMARY SCHOOL
Under the reorganisation of education brought about by the Education Act 1944, as from April 1st 1945 the Hooe County Junior School was known as Hooe County Primary School as it accepted both infants and juniors. The rapid expansion of housing at Hooe, Turnchapel and Plymstock after the Second World War created a great deal of pressure on Hooe County Primary School and it was found necessary to split away the infants' section. Consequently during the first week of June 1955 work started on construction new premises to be known as the Hooe County Infants' School. As a result the School became the Hooe County Junior School for the second time in its life. Sources:
