WHO WAS WHO IN PLYMOUTH HISTORY

SIR JOHN SAINT AUBYN (1726-1772)

Updated:  01 June 2012

John Saint Aubyn was born on November 12th 1726, the only son of Sir John and Lady Catherine Saint Aubyn.  Catherine was the daughter of Sir Nicholas Morice, of Werrington, Devon.

He married Miss Elizabeth Wingfield, from the City of Durham, in June 1756 at Saint James's Church, Westminster, London.

Although he became a Member of Parliament for Cornwall and in 1744 inherited the title and estates of his father, he is not known for any worthy connection with the parish of Stoke Damerel and is included here for continuity.

Sir John Saint Aubyn of Clowance died on October 12th 1772 at the young age of 46 years.  His estate passed to the fifth baronet, Sir John Saint Aubyn (1758-1839).
